I've gone to Art School

So yeah, the whole writing hasn't really been working for me this last year so instead I have made the decision to go back to something I was passionate about when I was at school... Art! I have got a place on an Art & Design Foundation Diploma at my local college and I'm studying hard.

I love art. I love making things and I think becuase I've always been practically minded I have turned into a jack of all trades but master of none lol! I can sew fancy dress costumes for my kids, I can copy drawings, I can make cardboard moose heads for Christmas... but I'm not brilliant at any of them; and I'd like to find my niche and develop my basic self taught skills.

So if you're into art you can find me on either my new college Tumblr account here :
https://adventuresatartschool.tumblr.com

Or my general art and photography on my Instagram here:  @emmamillsart

Maybe one day I'll finish that book I started... but it won't be for a while!

New Author, New Book to read!

It's been a long time and I'm sorry to say I'm not writing at the moment. Maybe one day I'll get back to it, but for now I'm actually enrolled to start an art & design diploma course in September!

However my good friend Kim Deister is publishing her first book. I'm sure it will be great because she was one of the Witchblood proof readers and she always found a ton of mistakes in my writing! Go take a look! I certainly will be!

Girl at the End of the World

So a quick update... I've not done much writing this month, but I have managed another 10k words. There's been a lot on, my daughter had her year 6 SATS (for my US readers these are tests done age 10/11)...yes those ones, the ones that have been in the news and all over Facebook! I had to have a cyst removed from my neck, and our lovely cat Willow got run over and killed, but there have been positives as well...

My son has had two growing up firsts, his first residential school trip away from home (he loved it) and also his first concert! He went to see this iconic band 'James' in Bristol for their 'Girl At The End of the World #GetTheGirl tour with his daddy (they both loved it!)

If you haven't listened to this album yet, you should. I'm loving James at the moment and this track is particularity pertinent to my writing as well! (say no more!)

A New Year, A New Series!

Okay so we might be a quarter of the way into the year already, but it is a new tax year! I have taken the past three months away from writing to give myself a breather and concentrate on the house and family, and now I feel ready to start something new. It is hard leaving Jess, Daniel and the gang behind... now I have to make a new fictional family; one that you will hopefully love just as much!

Enter eighteen year old twins Bea and Will, their mum, stepfather and little sister Lucy! I'm not giving much away just yet, as it's early days, but I will say this... I am trying something new (for me!) I am writing alternate chapters in first person from Bea's POV and 3rd person from Will's. The working title at the moment is 'Smoke' and it will be set in the near future, with no vampires (sorry!).

I will try and keep the blog updated every week, so check back for more updates! Here's how I envision Bea & Will...

Happy New Year!

So I hope everyone is feeling refreshed and ready for another year? LOL I am sooo tired this morning, school run felt like torture!

I haven't made any NY Resolutions this year, although I want to have more fun and actually keep a journal for longer than a month! I have started an art journal this year, so I'll see how long I keep it going!

I also like these challenges:

Have you set yourself any challenges or resolutions for 2016? It is of course an exciting week for me as I will be publishing WitchWar, the last book in the WitchBlood series, on Friday. It seems serendipitous that it will coincide with my blog, which I started at the same time as publishing the first book, is going to pass 100,000 hits! Maybe I should set a giveaway up...

WitchWar: Available for Pre-order

I can't believe I did it! I am all finished just in time for Christmas! WitchWar has been edited, re-read, edited, read, and edited again, before finally uploading to Amazon and Smashwords. It should be available to pre-order at all your usual digital haunts.

Today I have been arranging some promotional editorials for the blog tour and designing the tour banner. What do you think? It still takes me hours on GIMP but I think I'm getting better!

I have a week of book blogs already signed up, but if you are a book blogger and would like to join the tour, please let me know and I'll send you the information.

If you are a WitchBlood fan, please pre-order WitchWar and help me hit the charts running on January 8th!

As I probably won't blog again before Christmas, I would just like to wish everyone a 'Happy Holidays'. I hope you all have a lovely time and find stockings full of books!
